Why use learning logs?
This model for using learning logs is unique in the fact that all the logs are individualised in the sense that each child is given the freedom to express their understanding in any way they like. Children are able to show that they reached their learning objective in lots of different ways. They may choose to do a piece of writing or draw a picture to show their understanding. They may choose to do some further research around a topic and include this in their log or they may even take a picture of their own and include this. Giving children this freedom allows them to think creatively and also promotes independent learning in an accelerated way. This level of freedom acts as a great motivator for children and they begin to collaborate with their peers to share ideas and understanding. This style of learning log is flexible, exciting and personalised which will support children, teachers and parents alike.
